Washing tips
If you are viewing our product pages for one of our cotton hoodies , you will see that we recommend washing your cotton garments in hot or cold water no higher than 105 degrees Fahrenheit. There are a few good reasons for this.
The first is that in most cases you don't really need exceptionally hot water to clean a fabric. It is only necessary in case of particularly heavy soil. Hot water also directly damages cotton fibers.
Yes, our cotton hoodies are made from preshrunk fabric and resist shrinkage, but they are not immune to damage. The hotter the water, the more it damages the cotton fibers. Heat causes them to shrink and make them brittle and prone to breakage. It can also affect the color fastness of a garment. Please do not use hot water to wash our cotton hoodies !
Drying Tips
Many people use a clothes dryer to dry their cotton clothes, but just as hot water can damage cotton fibers, so can hot water. Aggressive drying of cotton garments in a dryer is where the most damage (and shrinkage) occurs.
We suggest air drying your cotton garments in a warm, but not necessarily hot, dry place with lots of traffic. This will help them dry faster while protecting them from the stresses of tumble drying - but we'd like to offer an additional caveat.
It may be common practice, but we don't recommend hanging your cotton clothes out to dry. This is especially the case for heavy cotton garments. These garments can actually stretch and lose their shape when hung to dry, and they are particularly vulnerable to stretching and malformation when the fibers are wet.
Instead, lay your clothes out flat to dry, instead of hanging them up.
Ironing tips
Ironing can help remove creases, but it can also stress the cotton fibers. If you need to iron your sweatshirt cotton hood (or any other cotton garment), iron it only at low temperature and do not expose it to temperatures above 230 degrees Fahrenheit.
Exposure to high heat, such as that from an iron, can damage the fibers of clothing and accelerate their degradation. Instead of ironing them, it's better to prevent creases from forming in the first place. Storing your favorite correctly folded will go a long way to avoiding this. Don't wrinkle your sweatshirt cotton hood favorite and you'll never have to iron it in the first place.

The same maxim applies to drying. Heavy cotton garments are likely to stretch under their own weight, and the fibers are weaker and more flexible when wet, putting them at greater risk. Instead, lay them flat to dry, although hanging them up will allow them to dry faster.
